The drawing of the surroundings of the
airport Schönefeld shows approximately the momentary condition there.
However, these can themselves alter continuously through construction-measures
in the context with the planned expansion to a single airport for Berlin called
BBI.
Many of the photo-positions could
be reached by car only and please make note, since there is a small ladder of
advantage for most of the positions.
The most used runway is the
25L / 07R. The other runway will only be used on short durations as it will
happen during
the Berlin Air Show ILA 2006.

Pos. 1 |
There is a visitor-terrace located in
the second floor of terminal A. On the basis of the predominant back light,
the conditions are not the best however. (The terrace is open from 10:00am
to 06:00pm) |
 |
Pos. 2 |
Good shots can be set on the apron of
pier 3a from the roof as well as at the side of the car-park. |
 |
 |
Pos. 3 |
The parking area beside the terminal D
offers the possibility to photograph taxiing or stored airplanes from the
early afternoon. The use of a ladder is necessary, as at all other positions
at the fence. |
 |
Pos. 4 |
From the street which leads into the
cargo area, the planes can be photographed on the apron II. But please be
aware since this street is more or less a restricted zone and one should
therefore not ignore the instructions of the security-personnel, if one is
caught when photographing. Hence it should be valid as first-rule: Don't
stay longer near the fence there than necessary ! |
 |
Pos. 5 |
This position could be reached by car via the highway A 113 then exit called Waltersdorf.
There is a possibility to set nice approach-shots if the runway 25L is in
use. |
 |
Pos. 6 |
This position is directly beside the
police-helicopter-squadron. After a short walk, one is opposite the tower.
Independently from the wind-direction, there is a possibility to take photos
almost the whole day long here. However, high focal lengths are necessary. (for
example 300 mm for a Boeing 737) |
 |
Pos. 7 (this position can not be
used) |
This place could be reached via a short
march over the field and with a good tele-lens, one can make nice pictures
on starting and landing aircrafts if the runway 07R is in use. |
 |
Pos. 8
(this position can not be used) |
To get there is not easy but nice
approach-shots can be set from this position. |
 |
Pos. 9 |
Another fine place
during approaches at runway 07R, which could sadly be reached only with
a longer march. |
 |
Pos. 10 |
A great photo-positon for spotting but
regrettable only of use on afternoon and if the wind blows from east.
The focal lenght could be set here at 135 mm for a Boeing 737 and around 70
mm for a Jumbojet. |
 |
Pos. 11 |
A small lens and afternoon-sun is of
need here.
Although, one could get there only by a walk (aprox.10 min. to go from Pos.10).
This place has an advantage, since there can no aircraft be missed, which
takes the taxiway Bravo for its journey on ground during approaches from the
east. |
 |
Pos. 12 & 13 |
Both positions are located at
the fence on runway 25R / 07L. Number
13 is a favorite since there is only a small lens of need to take nice
pictures. Pos.12 is suitable also in summer-evenings to catch the planes
during final approach on 25L. |
