SAS Sud Aviation SE-210-3 "Caravelle" at apron 1 in 1972 (Archiv Berlin Airports)

Die SAS führte nachweislich die erste Landung mit einem Jetliner vom Typ "Caravelle" in Berlin durch. Unklar blieb bisher das genaue Datum, da in einigen Publikationen unterschiedliche Angaben gemacht wurden. Bei einer Recherche im Archiv der Berliner Flughäfen, fand ich in einer alten Ausgabe der Betriebszeitschrift "Start" vom 12. Dezember 1959 einen Hinweis auf ein korrektes Datum. Demzufolge landete am 04. Dezember des Jahres eine "Caravelle" der SAS erstmals auf dem Flughafen Berlin-Schönefeld. Bemerkenswert ist, dass der Artikel zwar auf die Seite 1 plaziert wurde, jedoch vermied man im Text eine genaue Aussage im Sinne einer Erstlandung, da es sich ja offensichtlich nicht um eine Maschine des "grossen Bruders" handelte. Die Erstlandung einer TU-104 der Aeroflot am 28. Juli 1961 wurde dann auch entsprechend ausführlicher in dieser Zeitung behandelt.   Hier geht es zum Artikel. / Here is a copy of the article.   SAS enforced the first landing with a jetliner of type "Caravelle" in Berlin with no doubt. However, the accurate date was still unclear because there were different statements to be found in official publications. With an investigation in the archive of the Berlin Airports, I found an indication of a correct date in an old edition of the magazine "Start", which was published on December 12th. 1959. The "Caravelle" landed on December 04th. of the year for the first time at the airport Berlin-Schönefeld. It is remarkable, that the article was admittedly placed on side 1, however they avoided an exact statement in the sense of a first jet landing in the text since it was obviously not an aircraft belonging to the "big brother". The first arrival of a Aeroflot TU-104 on July 28th. 1961 was therefore more extensively  noted in this newspaper then.
