This nice picture is now 40 years old. Beside of the JAT "Caravelle" in foreground, the IL-18 in full INTERFLUG color scheme is much more of interest since there is a story to tell.
This one is the first "STF" with a construction number 181004105 and this aircraft was damaged by a hangar fire during overhaul at Bykovo (near Moscow) on February 28th. 1967 resulting in a not taken up by the INTERFLUG officials.
Nevertheless the airline took over a plane registered as DM-STF in March 1967 but this was another IL-18 with a cn. 184007405.
A circumstance, that has become never officially known up until the re-unification.
