LOT - Polish Airlines

Mit Erlaubnis der sowjetischen Besatzungsmacht war es die LOT, welche ab 1946 als zweite Fluggesellschaft regelmässig in SXF landen durfte. Dabei wurde jeweils auf der Strecke Warschau-Paris-Warschau ein Zwischenstop auf dem, kurz zuvor für den Flugverkehr freigegebenen, Flughafen eingelegt. Zum Einsatz kamen dabei Flugzeuge vom Typ LI-2 und DC-3 sowie auch die französische SE-161 "Languedoc", welche von 1947 bis 1950 bei der LOT im Einsatz stand.

Im Laufe der Jahre verstärkte sich das Engagement mit der Aufnahme von Direktflügen zwischen Warschau und Berlin in Verbindung mit einem Poolabkommen, welches damals noch mit der Lufthansa-Ost vereinbart wurde. Zusätzliche Charterflüge aus Gdansk und Krakow sowie reine Frachtflüge wurde ebenso durchgeführt.

Wirtschaftliche Erwägungen waren dann der Grund, dass die Airline die Linienflüge nach Berlin mit dem Beginn des Winterflugplans 1994 zum Flughafen Tegel/TXL verlagerte.

With permission of the Soviet occupation force, LOT was allowed to land regularly from 1946 as second airline in SXF. On a routing Warsaw-Paris-Warsaw, there was done a stopover at this Berlin airport, which was cleared for civil operations shortly before. Airplanes of the type LI-2 and DC-3 were used for this service as well as also the French SE-161 " Languedoc", which served with LOT from 1947 to 1950.

The commitment increased in the course of the years with the introduction of directly-flights between Warsaw and Berlin in connection with a pool-agreement, which was just arranged with the Lufthansa-East at that time. Additionaly, charter-flights from Gdansk and Krakow as well as pure freight-flights were operated.

Economic considerations were the reason, that the airline finally transferred the line service with the start of the winter-schedule 1994 to the Berlin airport Tegel/TXL.
